Motta are placemats made of woven newspapers with a border of waxed linen. These mats are woven on a loom.

The mats are so compact that they are waterproof but to prevent the ink on the papers to smear on surfaces and to further shield the mats a thin layer of clear laquer has been sprayed on them. The mats can be used either as placemats or hung on a wall for a graphic and bold art piece.

Each mat is unique and they all have a splash of color and some of the headlines can be read (of course they are all in Icelandic :).
